The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 goes on sale this fall. Now, the automaker, General Motors has revealed some new details and features about the truck’s technology that make towing easier.
Chevrolet would like to make it much easier for potential buyers of the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to tow trailers, so it’s featuring four new stages of towing options to help with transporting.
An Advanced Trailering System, conventional on the LTZ and High-Country trim levels and available on LT, RST and Trail Boss trim level, bundles together a bunch of important technologies. It includes a new auto parking brake assist feature that helps avoid unintended movement after the truck is lined up with the trailer and then shifted to park.
Second is a bundle of three cameras that provide a 270-degree view of behind the truck. A standard rear-view camera, and two cameras installed in the side-view mirrors. You can install an additional fourth camera to a trailer that provides an even more detailed view while towing.
All the customers who bought the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 can get the access to My Chevrolet app which provides a step-by-step departure checklist and a glossary of towing terms. This app allows drivers to conduct a trailer light test that uses an automatic exterior light sequence to help confirm that the trailer is properly connected.
It also features Trailer Theft Alert. The truck will switch on its lights and horn if somebody attempts to steal the trailer or trailer harness is disconnected from the vehicle. Drivers who are enrolled in the Safety & Security Plan will also get a call, text, or email to alert them of the incident.
As an additional bonus, every 2019 Chevrolet Silverado will get a trailering label attached to the VIN of each truck inside the driver-side door jamb that lists gross combined and total vehicle weight rating, maximum payload and other details to guide users to calculate towing capacity.
